Frequently Asked Questions

How do I fill the necklace?

Turn the bar upside down and unscrew the small cap at the bottom with a small flathead screwdriver, like an eyeglass screwdriver. Add a small pinch of ashes using a folded piece of paper, then screw the cap back on tightly. A screwdriver is not included. For photos of every step, see our guide to filling an urn necklace.

How much does it hold?

Only a small pinch. The bar is 0.16 in wide, so the space inside is very small — enough for a symbolic amount of ashes.

Which side is which?

Front faces out when you wear it, Back rests against your chest, and Left and Right are the sides to the left and right of the Front as you look at it. The jump ring passes through the Front and Back near the top. Text on every side reads from top to bottom. See the “Where each side is engraved” photo above.

What can I engrave?

Letters, numbers, spaces, and simple punctuation, up to 10 characters per side — a name, a date such as 03.12.2024, or a short phrase. Engraving is text only, in one clean standard font. How is this different from your other urn necklaces?

This one is a slim four-sided bar with room for four lines of engraving. Our Pet Urn Necklace is a small round pendant with a glass window, and our Glass Urn Locket is a larger round locket with clear glass on both sides.

Can each necklace in a set be different?

Yes. In a set of 2 or 3, every necklace has its own finish and its own engraving on each side.

How should I care for it?

Keep it away from water: take it off before showering, swimming, washing your hands, or exercising, and store it somewhere dry. Keep it away from perfume and cleaning products, too.

When will my necklace arrive?

Most orders arrive in 11–18 business days with free tracked U.S. shipping (2–4 business days to make it, then 9–14 in transit).

What if it arrives damaged or isn't right?

Email support@pawtraittown.com with your order number and a few photos, ideally within 14 days of delivery. If it arrived damaged, defective, or made incorrectly, we'll send a free replacement, or refund you if we can't. You don't need to send anything back. Because each necklace is made to order, we can't accept returns for other reasons. See our refund policy.
